Angola solar project: Impressive Milestone Achieved in 2025

Sun Africa has completed a 370 MWp solar PV project in Angola, including seven utility-scale solar plants in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Biรฉ, and Lunda Norte. This project, developed in partnership with MCA Group and Hitachi Energy, is the largest solar initiative in sub-Saharan Africa. According to pvKnowhow, this project adds nine new solar plants across seven provinces, representing a significant boost to Angola’s renewable energy capacity. Angola is striving towards a significant solar power expansion, aiming to achieve 800 MW of capacity by 2025. Further initiatives include the Angola solar power project to launch 100 MW by 2025, and Angola’s plan to build 65 solar mini-grids with a $1.6 billion grant.
