Impressive Italy solar energy storage: Zenith’s 10 MW Move

Zenith Energy Ltd has acquired a 10 MWp solar development project in Puglia, Italy, which includes a significant battery energy storage system. The project, acquired for EUR 875,000, is currently in the development phase and is a key part of the company’s expansion in the Italian renewable energy market.

Zenith Completes Acquisition for Italy solar energy storage Project

Zenith Energy, through its subsidiary WESOLAR S.R.L., has announced the completion of its acquisition of the entire share capital of a company owning a 10 MWp solar development project in the Puglia region of Italy. This move underscores the company’s strategic focus on growing its renewable energy assets.

The project is currently in the development stage, with the company expecting it to achieve ‘Ready-to-Build’ status within the next 12 to 16 months. The acquisition, representing a total investment of EUR 875,000, is a significant step in Zenith’s Italian solar strategy.

The Italian government has identified the Puglia region as a strategic area for renewable energy, a commitment demonstrated as Italy advances renewables auctions. The project is expected to generate over 18 million kWh of electricity annually once operational. A key feature is the inclusion of a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of up to 10 MW, for which two hectares of land have been acquired. This storage system is designed to enhance profitability through energy arbitrage—storing electricity during low-price periods and selling it back to the grid when prices are higher.

Zenith Energy’s Expanding Portfolio in Italy solar energy storage

Zenith Energy Ltd, a Canadian independent energy company, is strategically focused on the energy transition. It balances the development of renewable energy projects with maximizing the value of its oil and gas production assets in Africa. The company is publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange, the Oslo Stock Exchange, and the Euronext Growth of the Borsa Italiana.

The acquisition in Puglia is the latest addition to Zenith’s growing portfolio in Italy, which is central to the company’s goal to build a powerful 100 MW solar capacity by 2025. The company already operates two solar plants in the country and recently entered a joint venture to develop an additional 50 MWp of solar capacity.

Furthermore, Zenith is developing a 30.4 MWp solar project in the Lazio region, which is expected to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2025. The company’s expansion is part of a broader trend of increasing renewable energy generation across Italy, where other companies are also busy repowering existing solar PV plants in Italy. Zenith continues to actively seek new opportunities to expand its footprint in Italy and other key markets.

Zenith’s Commitment to Italy solar energy storage Transition

Zenith Energy’s expansion into renewables aligns with its firm commitment to the energy transition and sustainability. The company is focused on developing and operating renewable energy projects, including solar and wind, with an increasing emphasis on integrated energy storage systems.

By investing in clean energy, Zenith aims to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change. These projects are poised to generate significant economic and environmental benefits, including local job creation, enhanced energy security, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

While pursuing its renewable energy initiatives, Zenith continues to optimize its oil and gas operations in Africa. The company applies advanced technologies and sustainable practices to enhance operational efficiency and minimize its environmental impact, creating a balanced energy portfolio.

Zenith Energy’s investment in renewable energy is supported by a strong financial position and strategic partnerships. The company’s long-term vision is to become a key player in the global energy transition, delivering sustainable solutions to meet the growing demand for clean and reliable power.
