Impressive Romania solar park: 55 MWp Project Launches

R.Power Expands its Romania solar park Portfolio

R.Power, a leading European solar energy company, has officially commenced construction on its second solar park in Romania. The new 55 MWp project, named Lazuri Solar Park, is situated in Satu Mare County in the northwestern region of the country. This significant development, which is financed by a local bank, is being managed with NOMAD Electric serving as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner. The company plans to have the plant operational in the second half of 2025.

Romania is a core market for R.Power, where the company holds one of the largest solar project portfolios. This latest R.Power Group Wins Romania Solar Farm Project will bring the company’s total installed capacity in the country to over 150 MWp, with all plants scheduled to be operational by the end of 2025.

“Romania is one of R.Power’s core markets, where we have a strong position and one of the largest portfolios of solar projects at various stages of development. The new project will increase our installed capacity in Romania to over 150 MWp. We want all plants in Romania to be operational by the end of 2025,” said Tomasz Warmiński, CEO of R.Power.

Investing in Green Energy in the Romania solar park Sector

Romania has emerged as a key destination for renewable energy investments, thanks to its strategic location, high solar irradiation levels, and strong government support for green initiatives. The country is also a major beneficiary of the EU’s Modernisation Fund, a program designed to support less affluent member states in modernizing their energy systems and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Fund is set to provide Romania with approximately €6.5 billion by 2032, with a substantial portion earmarked for renewable energy projects like solar power plants. This supportive environment is fostering growth not only in Romania but across the region, as detailed in reports on neighboring markets like the Moldova Solar Panel Manufacturing Report. This new project follows R.Power’s first solar park in Romania, a 94 MWp facility completed in September 2023.

R.Power’s European Expansion Includes Romania solar park

Founded in 2010 by brothers Aleksander and Tomasz Warmiński, R.Power has grown into one of Europe’s largest private producers of solar energy and battery storage. The company is currently active in 15 countries and manages a massive portfolio of over 20 GWp of solar projects across the continent, a significant contribution when viewed in the context of the Global Solar Report.

R.Power is dedicated to expanding its footprint in the European renewable energy market and is actively exploring opportunities in the energy storage sector. The company has already implemented over 100 solar projects with a total capacity exceeding 1 GWp. An additional 1.1 GWp of capacity is currently under construction or in advanced development, showcasing a deep understanding of the entire project lifecycle, from the basics of solar panel manufacturing to grid integration.

In a landmark deal in 2023, R.Power signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with IKEA, committing to supply the furniture giant with over 1 TWh of renewable energy over five years. This agreement highlights R.Power’s capability to provide affordable, clean energy to both residential and major commercial clients.

R.Power’s Commitment to the Romania solar park Initiative

R.Power’s expansion in Romania is a key component of its broader strategy to grow its renewable energy portfolio throughout Europe. The company’s dual focus on solar power and energy storage solutions directly aligns with the global push for decarbonization and the increasing demand for reliable, clean energy.

With robust financial backing and extensive expertise in developing large-scale solar projects, R.Power is well-positioned to be a leader in Europe’s energy transition. The company’s ongoing investments in Romania and other key European markets underscore its commitment to building a sustainable energy future for everyone.
