Boviet Solar U.S. Manufacturing: Impressive Expansion by 2025 in North Carolina

Reinforcing its long-term strategy in the American solar market, Boviet Solar is executing a landmark $400 million, two-phase manufacturing expansion in Greenville, North Carolina. This major investment is poised to create over 1,300 jobs and establish a vertically integrated hub for domestic solar production, significantly strengthening the U.S. clean energy supply chain and showcasing a trend seen in the global solar manufacturing landscape.

Phase I: Operational 3.0 GW Module Assembly

The first stage of this ambitious project, a state-of-the-art PV module manufacturing facility, was commissioned on April 24, 2025. Representing an investment of $294 million, the 521,468-square-foot plant is already fully operational. A third production line was added in September 2025, bringing the total annual capacity to 3.0 GW. This facility, which leverages advanced solar manufacturing technology, produces Boviet’s Gamma Series™ Mono-Monofacial and Vega Series™ Mono-Bifacial modules and has created 374 local jobs in production and logistics.

Phase II: Vertically Integrated Cell Production

Construction on the second phase, a 3.0 GW monocrystalline PV cell factory, commenced in January 2025. This facility is crucial for Boviet’s vertical integration strategy, as it will handle a core part of the solar production process—transforming photovoltaic materials into advanced P-Type and N-Type cells. With its exterior completed in August 2025, the approximately 600,000-square-foot plant is on track for volume production in the second half of 2026. This phase is projected to add over 900 more jobs, bringing the campus total to more than 1,300.

Economic Impact and Strengthening Domestic Supply

The Greenville campus solidifies Boviet Solar’s commitment to its largest and most strategic market. The company has already supplied 9.2 GW of modules to the U.S., powering major utility-scale projects. This new domestic capacity will further enhance its ability to serve American customers while contributing to national energy independence. The scale of this investment, which aligns with a typical cost breakdown for such facilities, has been celebrated as a major economic win for Pitt County, bringing high-quality manufacturing roles to the region. For those looking to understand the foundations of solar production, this project serves as a prime example of modern industry growth.
