Neoen has once again demonstrated its leadership in the French renewable energy market, securing a significant 124 MWp of agrivoltaic solar projects in the latest government tender. This success follows another major win for 124 MWp of solar projects, which notably include three co-located battery storage systems totaling 26 MW/52 MWh. These awards highlight Neoen’s versatile capabilities and its crucial role in advancing France’s solar power capacity.
The projects were awarded through the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) tender process, a key mechanism for the country’s clean energy expansion.
Agrivoltaics and Storage Projects by Neoen solar France
The most recent success involves six agrivoltaic projects spread across the Bourgogne‑Franche‑Comté, Grand Est, and Nouvelle‑Aquitaine regions. These innovative projects are designed to integrate solar power generation with agricultural activities, ensuring a dual use of land and fostering collaboration with local farmers. Most of these parks are scheduled for construction by 2028. With these wins, Neoen has now been awarded over 1 GWp of solar projects in France since 2021, cementing its position as a leading developer.
In a separate but equally significant achievement through the 18th CRE 4 PV and 5th CRE 2 Storage tenders, Neoen secured another 124 MWp. This capacity is divided among the 50 MWp La Marlière, 44 MWp La Loge, and 30 MWp La Halte solar plants. Crucially, these projects are paired with battery storage: La Halte will feature a 6 MW/12 MWh battery, while La Marlière and La Loge will each have a 10 MW/20 MWh system. These facilities will store excess solar energy for later use, enhancing grid stability and resilience.
Xavier Barbaro, Chairman and CEO of Neoen, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s recent achievements, stating, “I am delighted with this new success in the CRE tenders. We are proud to be among the most successful developers in this tender and to have once again demonstrated our ability to develop solar power plants on various types of land.” Barbaro also emphasized Neoen’s dedication to maintaining a leading position in France and its strong commitment to the French energy transition.
The success in competitive government processes, like the recent France rooftop PV tender, underscores Neoen’s expertise in developing projects on diverse land types, from agricultural fields to former landfills in northern France.
Long-term Strategy for Neoen solar France
Neoen’s strategy clearly focuses on expanding its renewable energy portfolio and enhancing its capabilities in energy storage. By integrating battery storage systems with solar projects, Neoen improves the efficiency and reliability of renewable energy, supporting the broader goal of a sustainable energy future. The basics of solar panel manufacturing show how technological advancements are making such large-scale projects increasingly viable.
This strategy extends beyond France’s borders. Neoen has a strong international presence, having recently inaugurated Portugal’s largest solar park and being a key developer of large-scale battery storage in Australia. This global experience informs its innovative approach back home, positioning it as a key player in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Neoen’s Commitment to Renewable Energy in France
Neoen’s recent successes are a testament to its commitment to the energy transition. The company’s focus on integrating battery storage with solar power plants not only enhances energy security but also contributes to the stability of the electrical grid. By storing excess energy generated during peak solar production, these battery systems ensure a consistent energy supply, even during periods of low sunlight or high demand.
This strategic approach aligns with global trends and supports France’s ambitious renewable energy goals. You can find more updates on these developments in our France Solar News Archives. Neoen’s projects, particularly those developed on former landfills or as agrivoltaic systems, also highlight the company’s dedication to sustainable development by repurposing land for clean energy production. This maximizes land use and minimizes environmental impact. The entire solar panel manufacturing process is geared towards creating durable and efficient products for such vital projects.
As Neoen continues to drive growth and contribute to global efforts against climate change, its role as a leader in the renewable energy industry is undeniable.
