Adani Green Launches a 180 MW Solar Power Plant In Devikot, Rajasthan

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), in partnership with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), has commissioned a new 180 MW solar power facility. Now operational, the plant is supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement.

Devikot Solar Plant to Power Over 110,000 Households

Adani Green, India’s leading renewable energy firm, announced in a statement on Wednesday the activation of its 180 MW solar plant in Devikot, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

The launch boosts AGEL’s operational solar capacity to 6,243 MW, bringing its total renewable portfolio to 9,784 MW—the largest in India.

The solar plant in Rajasthan is expected to generate approximately 540 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power over 110,000 households and prevent around 0.39 million tons of CO2 emissions.

To maximize energy generation, the plant utilizes cutting-edge bifacial solar PV modules and horizontal single-axis solar trackers (HSAT), which enhance module efficiency by tracking the sun’s movement throughout the day.

Advanced Technology and Water Conservation

The facility also features waterless, automated module cleaning systems to conserve water in the arid Jaisalmer region. For improved operational efficiency, AGEL’s Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC), a secure cloud-based platform, enables real-time monitoring of all its renewable energy assets.

Through key projects like the Devikot solar plant, AGEL continues to play a central role in India’s renewable energy sector, supporting the nation’s goals for energy security and a low-carbon economy.

Government Support for Solar Energy in India

India has abundant natural resources for wind, solar, and hydro energy, with solar energy emerging as a particularly promising source. Recognizing this potential, the government has set an ambitious goal to increase the country’s solar power capacity to 500 GW by 2030.

With ample sunlight year-round, India is well-suited for solar power generation. The government is actively encouraging solar energy adoption to meet the nation’s rising energy demands, fueling significant growth in the solar industry in recent years.
