Masdar Solar Project: $300 Million Initiative in Oman
Abu Dhabi-based Masdar has reached financial close on the $300 million Ibri III Solar Independent Power Project (IPP) in Oman. This utility-scale solar-plus-storage initiative is estimated to power approximately 33,000 homes.
Masdar Solar Project Specifications
The Ibri III project features a 500 MW solar plant combined with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system. The project is also expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 505,000 tonnes annually.
Masdar Solar Project Consortium and Financing
Masdar is collaborating with partners including Al Khadra Partners, Korea Midland Power Company, and OQ Alternative Energy for this project. Financing has been secured through Natixis CIB and First Abu Dhabi Bank.
Masdar Solar Project Strategic Importance
This project supports Oman’s Vision 2040, which aims to diversify energy sources and achieve a target of 30% renewable electricity by 2030.
