Oman Solar Investment: $1.744 Billion Allocated for Solar Projects
Oman’s Future Fund (FFO), part of the Oman Investment Authority, has announced a $1.744 billion package covering 105 strategic projects, emphasizing its commitment to renewable energy. The flagship initiative is Orion Solar, which will construct the Middle East’s first integrated solar cell and module facility in the SOHAR Freezone.
Oman Solar Investment Breakdown
The total investment includes $585 million from the Future Fund and $458 million raised through local investments. Orion Solar is expected to produce solar cells and modules with an annual capacity of 6 gigawatts (GW), significantly localizing the solar value chain in Oman.
Additional Oman Solar Investment Initiatives
Alongside Orion Solar, the investment package comprises the Gallant Industrial Project, which aims to produce 66,000 tonnes of lithium iron phosphate cathode material annually for electric vehicle batteries. This project aligns with Oman’s strategy to connect with clean-energy storage markets.

Broader Oman Solar Investment Energy Plans
This investment plan is part of Oman’s broader strategy to enhance clean energy within its national energy mix. The country is also seeking consultants for four new 1 GW solar projects, with an aim for these projects to commence operations by Q2 2030. Additionally, United Solar Polysilicon has secured $1.6 billion for its Sohar facility, further advancing Oman’s clean energy developments.
