Jinko to Supply 150 MW High-Efficiency Panels for Algeria Projects

Jinko Solar has secured a major contract to supply 150 MW of its advanced Tiger Neo N-type TOPCon solar panels for two pivotal solar energy projects in Algeria. This significant deal reinforces Algeria’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity and marks a key step in one of Africa’s largest ongoing solar development programs.

The supply agreement is split between two strategic locations. A 100 MW solar plant will be developed in Ain Beida, within the Ouargla Province, in partnership with Amimer Energie Spa Officielle. A second, 50 MW facility is slated for Beni Ounif in the Béchar Province. These installations are central to Algeria’s strategy for diversifying its energy portfolio and reducing its dependence on fossil fuels.

The choice of Jinko Solar’s Tiger Neo modules underscores a focus on performance and durability. According to industry reports, these N-type TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) panels were specifically selected for their resilience in Algeria’s harsh, arid climate conditions. This cutting-edge technology represents the latest in photovoltaic innovation, ensuring high efficiency and long-term reliability.

This nationwide solar initiative is part of a broader 1 GW program designed to position the country as a leader in North Africa’s clean energy transition. The successful implementation of these projects is expected to set a powerful precedent, showcasing the viability of large-scale solar power and paving the way for future investments across the region.

Beyond advancing Algeria’s energy independence, the projects are poised to deliver substantial economic and environmental advantages. The construction and operation of the facilities will stimulate local economies by creating jobs in the installation, maintenance, and management of the advanced PV systems. Furthermore, the 150 MW of clean energy will significantly cut carbon emissions, contributing to improved air quality and helping Algeria achieve its climate action goals as it aims to become the Maghreb’s second-largest renewable energy producer by 2030.
