Adapture Renewables, Inc. has completed its latest utility-scale solar project in Hunt County, Texas, a 67 MW facility that has begun commercial operation, providing clean energy for rising electricity demand. A Fortune 50 company will use the power to support its sustainability goals.
Texas Solar Project Boosts Renewable Energy Capacity
Spanning 25 acres and featuring more than 130,000 solar modules, the facility is expected to generate 120 GWh of electricity annually—enough to power approximately 12,500 homes. This new capacity comes at a crucial time, as data centers, AI advancements, and EV charging networks place increasing strain on the grid. The project helps address this growing demand by delivering cost-effective, reliable energy.
Early Completion Highlights Solar Project Efficiency
Adapture Renewables achieved commercial operation three months ahead of schedule, marking the company’s first Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA). The project was delivered successfully despite supply chain disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic and the severe impact of Winter Storm Uri in 2021. Effective material procurement and strong collaboration with partners made this achievement possible.
Thomas Houghton, CEO at Adapture Renewables, said: “We are proud to see our latest Texas project reach this significant milestone. Completing the project ahead of schedule reflects the hard work of our team and partners, and highlights our commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure across the country.”
Economic and Environmental Benefits to Hunt County
The construction phase created over 150 local jobs, contributing to the economic growth of Hunt County. According to a 2021 NREL model, the project is projected to bring over $77 million in economic benefits to the region. This investment solidifies the company’s role in supporting corporate and industrial energy buyers while also enhancing grid reliability.
Adapture Renewables continues to expand its clean energy portfolio across multiple states. Owned by KIRKBI, the investment company behind the LEGO brand, the firm is financially positioned to execute long-term solar and energy storage projects. Its expertise in project development, EPC management, and finance allows the company to drive these renewable energy initiatives efficiently.
As electricity demand continues to rise from AI-driven industries, cloud computing, and the growing need for EV charging infrastructure, projects like this play a critical role. Utility-scale solar helps stabilize the grid, reduce carbon footprints, and promote greater energy independence for businesses and communities alike.
Adapture Renewables remains committed to expanding renewable energy adoption nationwide. By delivering high-quality solar projects, the company supports the global transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy future.
