As part of its firm commitment to sustainable energy, Andamur has implemented the installation of photovoltaic solar panels at its Guarromán service area in Jaén. This project, made possible with funding from the European NextGenerationEU funds under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, makes Guarromán the third Andamur service area in Spain to be powered entirely by solar energy. It follows similar successful installations at the company’s service areas in La Junquera, Girona and Pamplona, Navarra.
The Guarromán service area, which covers 1,500 square meters, now features a solar array capable of generating up to 100,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy annually. This clean energy will be used to power the service area’s fuelling stations, convenience store, and restaurant. Such commercial installations are becoming increasingly common as businesses aim to enhance sustainability, similar to how agricultural operations like Pickersgill Home Farm plans to install 205 PV panels for its own energy needs.
The installation is expected to significantly reduce the service area’s carbon footprint, cutting CO2 emissions by an estimated 25,000 kilograms per year. This reduction is equivalent to planting more than 4,000 trees, which underscores Andamur’s dedication to environmental conservation and its active role in the fight against climate change.

In addition to the Guarromán, La Junquera, and Pamplona locations, Andamur plans to expand its solar energy installations to service areas in El Límite, Lorca, San Román, San Pedro, Le Boulou, and the Andamur Parking facilities at La Junquera and Guarromán.
The company is also exploring ways to use renewable energy to power its electric vehicle charging stations. Andamur has already installed fast-charging stations at several of its service areas, and the company is working to ensure that these stations are powered by clean energy sources.
