Clearvise’s Second Solar Project
Clearvise AG, an independent power producer with a diverse European portfolio of wind and photovoltaic facilities, has announced the acquisition of the Wolfsgarten solar park from ALTUS Renewables GmbH (ALTUS). This purchase brings Clearvise’s operational generation capacity to 316 MW and underscores its commitment to balancing its output evenly between wind and solar energy sources.
ALTUS, a developer headquartered in Karlsruhe, planned and constructed the 42.7 MWp Wolfsgarten solar park, which began operating at the end of April 2024. The electricity generated is sold through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), a model Clearvise continues to favor for its sustainable energy initiatives.
The Wolfsgarten solar park is the second project developed by ALTUS in Clearvise’s portfolio, following the 12.5 MWp Alsweiler II park. It is also the second to operate successfully without tariff subsidies, relying instead on a private PPA. Clearvise had previously announced signing another PPA at the end of March for a French solar project currently under construction.
The Partnership Deal
Petra Leue-Bahns, CEO of Clearvise AG, sees the successful Wolfsgarten project as a testament to the trust placed in ALTUS’s development expertise. She thanked ALTUS for a partnership and dedication that ensured the park’s timely completion ahead of the intense summer months.
“Good things come to those who wait. A large-scale, intricate project like Wolfsgarten demonstrates why we have faith in ALTUS’s development experience. We are grateful to our partner for their outstanding collaboration and unwavering dedication, which allowed the park to open on time before the summer’s high-radiation months,” stated Leue-Bahns.
According to a report from EQS News, in 2021, Clearvise and ALTUS entered into purchase agreements for the Wolfsgarten and Heiligenfelde solar parks as part of a larger PV project portfolio. Changing market conditions required adjustments, leading Clearvise to take over the Wolfsgarten project while ALTUS retained ownership of Heiligenfelde.
More Projects Ahead
Clearvise AG maintains a diverse investment portfolio of onshore wind and solar parks, prioritizing profitable expansion through its three-pillar acquisition strategy (clearSWITCH, clearPARTNERS, and clearVALUE) to create stakeholder value. Its partner, ALTUS, a subsidiary of Kraftwerke Mainz-Wiesbaden AG, has been supporting wind and photovoltaic projects since 2008, drawing on its deep expertise in project development.
Marco Eggensperger, Managing Director of ALTUS Renewables GmbH, highlights his team’s ability to deliver larger projects like Wolfsgarten, even under challenging market conditions. He also expresses satisfaction with continuing the partnership with Clearvise for the long-term management of the park, noting that it further solidifies their collaboration.
“With the Wolfsgarten Solar Park, we have shown that our seasoned team is capable of completing ambitious projects, even under challenging market conditions. We are happy that we will remain in charge of the park’s long-term management following the sale, allowing us to deepen our collaboration with Clearvise,” said Eggensperger.
The acquisition of the Wolfsgarten solar park marks a significant milestone for Clearvise AG, boosting its renewable energy portfolio to an impressive 316 MW. This successful, large-scale project underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable energy and its fruitful partnership with ALTUS Renewables GmbH. With the park already operational and set to contribute to earnings in 2024, the acquisition further solidifies Clearvise’s role in advancing Europe’s renewable energy solutions.
