Egypt Solar Project Overview
Egypt has approved the Nefer Minya solar-plus-storage project in Minya Governorate, which will feature a capacity of 1 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) power alongside 600 MWh of battery storage. The approved project represents an investment of approximately $750 million, backed by a Golden License, which facilitates expedited approvals for the development. The project is being undertaken by Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities.

The 600 MWh battery system is designed to provide about two hours of energy shifting to the grid. This technology will enable the effective management of solar energy, ensuring a stable supply even when sunlight is not available.
Egypt Solar Project Timeline and Employment Impact
Completion of the Nefer Minya project is scheduled for September 30, 2027. The construction phase is expected to create approximately 2,500 jobs and aims to contribute to a reduction of carbon emissions by around 1 million tons annually. AIKO has been announced as the sole module supplier for the project.
