Enteligent Secures $6M Funding for Solar EV Chargers

Enteligent Inc., a company specializing in solar-powered DC-to-DC chargers for electric vehicles (EVs), has secured $6 million in funding to advance the development and commercialization of its photovoltaic (PV) module-level power optimizers and bi-directional DC-to-DC solar EV chargers.

Enteligent Powers Electric Delivery Fleet

Enteligent is providing the world’s first 25kW DC-to-DC solar EV charger with extended dwell time to a major logistics company to help electrify its delivery fleet. This funding round was led by Taronga Ventures, a prominent global technology investor dedicated to advancing innovation in sectors like infrastructure and real estate.

This latest funding round brings the company’s total funds raised to $19 million since 2021, including previous investments from NOVA, a subsidiary of the global building materials company Saint-Gobain.

“Enteligent’s technology sets a new standard in maximizing solar energy efficiency. Their holistic approach to solar power optimization offers practical solutions with real-world applications that meet the needs of global real asset owners and operators. Together, we can significantly advance decarbonization efforts for real assets,” said Jonathan Hannam, Managing Partner at Taronga Ventures.

Enteligent Selected for Taronga Ventures’ ESG Impact Program

Enteligent was selected by RealTechX, the program arm of Taronga Ventures, as one of 12 companies worldwide to join its ESG Impact program in 2023. The program’s partners included APG, CapitaLand, CBRE, Dexus, International Towers, ISPT, Ivanhoé Cambridge, PGIM Real Estate, and Vicinity Centres. It helped Enteligent enhance its ESG strategy for the real asset sector.

“Our mission is to drive a paradigm shift in energy consumption habits by leveraging abundant solar power and our innovative technology to facilitate society’s transition to electrification. Having an industry leader such as Taronga Ventures as our lead investor is a significant endorsement of our technology,” said Sean Burke, Enteligent CEO and co-founder.

Enteligent Introduces Solar-Powered EVSE

Alongside its 25kW DC-to-DC fleet charging platform, Enteligent is also pre-selling its solar-powered TLCEV T1 EVSE, which operates directly from sunlight for convenient and cost-effective daytime charging using on-site solar energy.

Enabling solar power for charging directly at the point of generation encourages a significant shift in energy consumption habits. The DC-coupled charger delivers up to 12.5 kW of fast DC charging—twice as fast as many AC Level 2 EV chargers.

By eliminating the unnecessary DC-to-AC-to-DC conversions typical of AC-powered EVSEs, this model—along with other Enteligent DC-to-DC EV chargers—reduces energy losses by up to 20%.

Enteligent’s NMax PV module power optimizers, equipped with rapid shutdown safety features, ensure every solar panel operates at peak efficiency. These are the only module-level power electronics (MLPE) that combine rapid shutdown device (RSD) capabilities with panel-level performance data via PLC, boosting electricity yield by an average of 10% for typical rooftop solar installations.

Solar inverter suppliers that integrate Enteligent’s NMax PV module-level optimizers as part of a branded package are eligible for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Manufacturing Tax Credit (45X MPTC).
