Founder Group Limited has secured a $68 million conditional Letter of Award for a 100MW solar farm in Tanjung Malim, Malaysia. This project will supply power to an advanced AI data centre in Enstek City, with Founder Group set to lead the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) efforts to support the nation’s shift toward renewable energy.
Project Partners and Market Growth
Hexatoff Group is a key partner in this initiative, specializing in infrastructure and building construction. The company holds the nation’s highest-grade construction license (G7) and is registered with the Ministry of Finance Malaysia. This partnership aims to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a leading AI and digital infrastructure hub in Southeast Asia, which aligns with the country’s commitment to sustainable development and technology growth.
Malaysia’s solar EPCC industry is expanding rapidly, a sector projected to reach $350 million by 2026 while growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.5%. This growth reflects Malaysia’s strong push towards renewable energy solutions, driven by the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). Outlined by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the roadmap focuses on expanding solar installations, creating renewable energy zones, and developing utility-scale storage systems as part of the government’s proactive adoption of clean energy.
Project Significance and Strategic Vision
Corporate sustainability goals are also playing a key role, with companies in sectors such as data centres and semiconductors prioritizing green energy solutions. This trend creates new opportunities for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) firms, prompting Malaysia to accelerate its renewable energy development to meet these demands.
Lee Seng Chi, Chief Executive Officer of Founder Group Limited, highlighted the project’s importance, stating that the conditional Letter of Award marks a major milestone for the company. He noted the solar farm reinforces Founder Group’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives in Malaysia and aligns with the country’s energy transition goals.
The partnership with Hexatoff Group enhances their ability to drive innovation in the energy sector and support Malaysia’s ambitions as a hub for AI and digital infrastructure. For both companies, sustainability and innovation remain top priorities.
