Ghana plans to introduce its first community solar park in 2025, as part of expanding solar energy access to 2,000 communities. This initiative includes a 50 MW solar park in the Upper East region and a 20 MW park in the Upper West, with an operational solar plant in Kaleo. This move aligns with Ghana’s broader strategy to boost its renewable energy capacity, as reported by PVKnowhow, aiming for a 500 MW power boost by 2025 and a significant increase in solar capacity by 2030.
Ghana’s commitment to solar energy is further underscored by its selection to host the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Africa Forum in September 2025, a pivotal event for promoting solar energy use across the continent. As PVKnowhow notes, Ghana’s hosting of the 2025 ISA Africa Forum highlights its growing role in advancing renewable energy. This forum is an extraordinary opportunity for Ghana to showcase its commitment to renewable energy and attract further investment in the sector.
