Heliup Launches 5 Revolutionary Solar Panels for Rooftops Solutions

French solar innovator Heliup is making waves with the introduction of its Stykon range, an ultra-lightweight photovoltaic solution poised to activate millions of square meters of previously unusable roof space. The company, recently honored with the Gold European Solar Startup Award 2025, has developed a panel that is a remarkable 60% lighter than conventional models, weighing just 5 kg per square meter. This breakthrough specifically targets commercial, industrial, and logistics buildings with flat rooftops that have limited load-bearing capacity.

The Stykon Advantage: Redefining Rooftop Solar

Heliup’s revolutionary approach centers on its patented thin-glass technology, which utilizes crystalline silicon cells to achieve an efficiency of around 20%. Rather than relying on heavy frames and mounting systems, the Stykon panels are installed via direct gluing, a method that simplifies and accelerates deployment without compromising structural integrity. This focus on unlocking the potential of large commercial rooftops aligns with a growing industry trend toward maximizing existing infrastructure, a strategy seen in large-scale projects like the ambitious rooftop system installed by Coles Group in Australia.

By producing these innovative panels in Europe, Heliup is also setting a new standard for regional manufacturing. In a market often dominated by production from hubs like Shenzhen, the company recently commissioned a 100 MW factory in France. This move was bolstered by a successful €16 million funding round aimed at accelerating industrialization and supporting key initiatives like the SHEEFT project, which scales the Stykon technology for widespread adoption across the continent.

Engineered for Durability and Long-Term Performance

Designed to perform reliably in diverse environments, the Stykon panels are engineered for extreme weather resistance, including hail and high winds. This resilience is critical for ensuring consistent energy generation, a principle that also guides the development of robust utility-scale installations such as the 42 MW Altona Solar project in Missouri. Heliup backs its technology with a 12-year product warranty and a 25-year linear power output guarantee, ensuring performance remains above 89.4%.

By eliminating the need for costly roof reinforcements, Heliup offers a cost-effective pathway for building owners to reduce their carbon footprint and lower energy expenses. The company’s vision to expand clean energy access reflects a collaborative spirit seen across the industry, similar to partnerships like the one between Ipsun Solar and Versiris Energy, which are focused on advancing sustainability goals on a regional level. With its new factory online and industry accolades secured, Heliup is positioned to make solar energy more accessible for businesses throughout Europe and beyond.
