Kyrgyzstan Solar Power’s Largest Project Activated
Kyrgyzstan has commissioned the first 175 MW phase of a planned 1.9 GW solar project, marking the country’s largest operational solar site to date. The ROX Issyk-Kul solar power plant, situated in eastern Kyrgyzstan, was developed by Vietnam’s Rox Energy Global alongside RECA LLC. Investment in the initial phase reached approximately $130 million.
Kyrgyzstan Solar Power Project Details
The first phase includes the 175 MW solar plant, a 110 kV high-voltage substation, and necessary transmission infrastructure. Construction commenced in July 2025 following an agreement with Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Energy. This phase is expected to generate nearly 200 million kilowatt hours of green electricity annually.
Kyrgyzstan Solar Power Overall Project Timeline and Cost
The entire 1.9 GW project, which is anticipated to become Central Asia’s largest solar initiative, is projected to cost about $1.4 billion and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. Currently, over 250 local workers are engaged in construction activities at the site.
