At its core, the project is designed to create a comprehensive aluminum value chain—from production and processing to final manufacturing—powered entirely by clean energy. Spanning approximately 6,279 hectares, the industrial park is set to redefine industrial production in the region by integrating advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, into its operations.
The centerpiece of the development is a green aluminum production facility with a projected annual capacity of 500,000 tons. This output will be powered by up to 2,000 megawatts (MW) of clean energy generated from solar, wind, and other renewable sources, ensuring the “green” label is more than just a name.
The Powering Partners and Infrastructure for Laos green aluminum
The collaboration is built on the distinct strengths of each partner, creating a robust framework for success:
- Guangxi Investment Group will serve as the primary investor, bringing its extensive expertise and technology in the aluminum industry to develop the entire value chain.
- CGN Energy Technology (Laos) is tasked with supplying the crucial clean energy. This includes power from a 1,000 MW solar farm and additional wind-solar projects in Oudomxay and Luang Namtha provinces.
- Krittaphong Group will manage local coordination, implementation, and ensure compliance with national regulations, facilitating a smooth operational rollout.
Supporting this vast industrial base is the critical energy infrastructure provided by EDL-T, which will connect the park to the Laos-China 500kV power grid. This linkage guarantees a stable and reliable power supply, essential for heavy industrial operations.
