World Bank’s Funding for Moldova Energy Projects
The World Bank is allocating a total of $224.5 million to support three energy projects in Moldova. The projects aim to enhance the nation’s energy security and integrate renewable energy sources into its grid.
Components of Moldova Energy Projects
The funding will cover the construction of a 400-kV overhead power line connecting Vulcănești and Chișinău, along with the modernization of the existing 330-kV Chișinău substation. Additionally, the project includes the development of two efficient cogeneration plants at the Termoelectrica facility and the establishment of a renewable energy mechanism for Moldova (MEERM).

These initiatives are designed to bolster grid reliability, support renewable energy integration, and ultimately strengthen Moldova’s energy security. The World Bank’s investment is part of broader efforts to modernize Moldova’s energy infrastructure.
