In a landmark move for Southeast Europe’s renewable energy sector, independent power producer Renalfa IPP has initiated the installation of a substantial Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at its solar facility in Oslomej, North Macedonia. This project marks a critical phase in the nation’s shift towards a sustainable energy future, transforming the site of a former lignite mine into a hub of clean power innovation.
The new BESS boasts a significant capacity of 50 MW / 200 MWh, making it one of the largest of its kind in the region. It is being integrated with an existing solar plant, creating a state-of-the-art solar-plus-storage facility.
