Shawton Energy, a UK-based provider of low-carbon energy solutions, has partnered with Iceland Foods to install a substantial 1.3 MW rooftop solar PV system at Iceland’s head office and distribution centre in Deeside, North Wales. The newly installed solar panels are projected to generate 1.2 GWh of electricity annually, fulfilling 10% of the facility’s electricity consumption. This system is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 200,000 kg each year, reinforcing Iceland’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Furthermore, a 1 MW battery energy storage system will complement the solar installation, enabling the storage and utilization of surplus energy as needed.
