New Solar Wind Energy Registration System for Renewable Energy Producers
Paraguay’s government has authorized a mandatory registration system for individuals and companies producing electricity from non-conventional renewable sources, including solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal energy. The registration applies to self-generation and cogeneration systems.
Eligibility and Regulatory Details for Solar Wind Energy Registration
The new registration system covers installations of up to 1 megawatt (MW), whether connected to Paraguay’s national grid or operating independently. Systems within that limit are exempt from obtaining a renewable-energy license but must still be registered with the Ministry of Public Works and Communications. Projects exceeding 1 MW must obtain the relevant authorization.
Legislative Basis for Solar Wind Energy Registration
This measure is based on Law No. 7599/2025, Decree No. 6034/2026, and MOPC Resolution No. 996/2026.
Next Steps for Producers in Solar Wind Energy Registration
Producers of renewable energy are now required to officially register their systems, ensuring compliance with national regulations and facilitating the growth of the renewable energy market in Paraguay.
