Tenaris Solar Park Powers Romanian Mill with Renewable Energy
Tenaris has launched a 20 MW solar park to power its seamless pipe mill in Cฤlฤraศi, Romania. Spanning 38 hectares, the park is expected to generate around 30,000 MWh of electricity annually, meeting 25% of the plantโs energy needs.
Valued at approximately $31 million, the project was implemented by Romanian construction company Electrogrup. The initiative supports Tenaris’s broader strategy to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and aligns with global efforts to transition toward renewable energy sources.
Michele Della Briotta, president of Tenaris Europe, highlighted the solar park as a crucial step in achieving the companyโs decarbonization targets. โThis project is a key milestone in our path to decarbonization,” Briotta said. “We have several other projects underway or in the pipeline to reduce emissions and increase efficiency.โ
Tenaris’s Global Decarbonization Efforts
The Cฤlฤraศi solar park is part of Tenarisโs wider commitment to sustainability. Other company initiatives include using 100% renewable energy at its facility in Dalmine, Italy, which features a 34 MW solar park, and operating a 50 MW solar park at its mill in Conroe, Texas.
