Tenaris Solar Park Romania: 20 MW Solar Park Launch in Cฤƒlฤƒraศ™i

Tenaris Solar Park Powers Romanian Mill with Renewable Energy

Tenaris has launched a 20 MW solar park to power its seamless pipe mill in Cฤƒlฤƒraศ™i, Romania. Spanning 38 hectares, the park is expected to generate around 30,000 MWh of electricity annually, meeting 25% of the plantโ€™s energy needs.

Valued at approximately $31 million, the project was implemented by Romanian construction company Electrogrup. The initiative supports Tenaris’s broader strategy to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and aligns with global efforts to transition toward renewable energy sources.

Michele Della Briotta, president of Tenaris Europe, highlighted the solar park as a crucial step in achieving the companyโ€™s decarbonization targets. โ€œThis project is a key milestone in our path to decarbonization,” Briotta said. “We have several other projects underway or in the pipeline to reduce emissions and increase efficiency.โ€

Tenaris’s Global Decarbonization Efforts

The Cฤƒlฤƒraศ™i solar park is part of Tenarisโ€™s wider commitment to sustainability. Other company initiatives include using 100% renewable energy at its facility in Dalmine, Italy, which features a 34 MW solar park, and operating a 50 MW solar park at its mill in Conroe, Texas.

Tenaris is also exploring the use of hydrogen in its manufacturing processes, with a pilot project for hydrogen combustion at its Dalmine plant. The company is also developing a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at its seamless pipe mill in Argentina.

This investment in renewable energy demonstrates Tenaris’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact and positioning itself as a leader in sustainability within the steel manufacturing industry.

A Broader Commitment to a Sustainable Future

Tenarisโ€™s commitment to sustainability extends beyond individual projects, as the company actively pursues other renewable energy initiatives and innovative technologies to further reduce its emissions. This focus isnโ€™t just about meeting regulatory requirements; itโ€™s about leading the steel industry toward a more sustainable future and setting a new standard with its investments.

As Tenaris continues to fund these decarbonization initiatives, it remains on track to achieve its 2030 emissions reduction target. The efforts in Romania, Italy, and the United States are part of a long-term strategy to make its operations more sustainable and address the challenges of climate change.
