TotalEnergies has entered into an agreement with Daehwa Pharmaceutical to supply 2.2 megawatts (MW) of solar energy, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 1,600 tons annually. This collaboration involves the installation of a rooftop solar power system at Daehwa’s Osong plant, which produces pharmaceutical products.
Rooftop Solar Power Plant under TotalEnergies solar partnership
The solar power system will be installed on the roof of Daehwa’s Osong plant, which produces pharmaceutical products. It will generate 2.2 MW of electricity.
This arrangement will result in annual carbon emissions savings of 1,600 tons and electricity cost savings equivalent to the planting of 16,000 trees. TotalEnergies will design, install, and maintain the solar power plant, while Daehwa will utilize the electricity generated.
“We will continue to take the lead in eco-friendly management by using renewable energy, such as solar power, while striving to improve the health of the people through the development of new drugs,” said Yoon Chang-joon, CEO of Daehwa Pharmaceutical.
Expanding TotalEnergies solar partnership Projects in Korea
TotalEnergies is actively expanding its solar power business in Korea, recently signing a 4.4 MW solar power supply contract with Daehan New Pharm. The company has also completed the world’s largest floating solar power plant, generating 10 MW of electricity annually.
This project, built on a reservoir in the Netherlands, utilizes floating solar modules to maximize space and energy efficiency, producing enough power for approximately 4,000 households. You can explore similar initiatives, such as the Bahamas solar power agreement and the Suriname solar park launch, which mark significant steps towards sustainability.
Global Renewable Goals through TotalEnergies solar partnership
TotalEnergies aims to become a global leader in renewable energy, particularly in solar power, targeting 100 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The company is expanding its solar and wind energy portfolios worldwide, including major projects in India, the U.S., and Europe.
In the U.S., TotalEnergies partnered with SunPower to develop large-scale solar projects and acquired a 50% stake in a 2.2 GW portfolio of solar and energy storage projects from SunChase Power and MAP Energy. The company is also investing in solar thermal technology in China.
In Korea, TotalEnergies is actively involved in various solar power projects, including a recently signed 4.4 MW solar power supply contract with Daehan New Pharm and the completion of a 10 MW floating solar power plant in the Netherlands. These initiatives reflect TotalEnergies’ commitment to sustainability and innovation in the energy sector.
