Australian PV module manufacturer Tindo Solar has launched a new n-type bifacial solar panel with a power output of 425 W and a conversion efficiency of 21.8%.
Tindo Solar Launches First Australian-Made N-Type and Bifacial Panels
Adelaide-based manufacturer Tindo Solar has unveiled its new Walara series, featuring the 425 W G3P module. The series is touted as the first Australian-made solar panel range to feature locally engineered n-type and bifacial technologies.
“The Walara series represents a significant leap forward in Australian solar technology,” said Richard Petterson, Tindo’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our goal was to create an evolution of our previous panels, developed in response to installer and customer needs.”
The launch coincides with Tindo’s plans to substantially increase its manufacturing output and establish a 1 GW capacity factory in one of Australia’s eastern states.
While Tindo’s current manufacturing facility in Mawson Lakes, north of Adelaide, has an annual capacity of 360,000 panels, the company plans to build a new plant capable of producing 1.9 million panels per year.
Walara 425 W Panel Boosts Efficiency with Bifacial Design
Equipped with 108 half-cut n-type cells, the Walara 425 W panel minimizes energy loss from resistance and heat, boosting its overall efficiency. The bifacial panel also uses 3.2 mm fully tempered double ARC glass, allowing it to capture sunlight from both sides to significantly enhance power output.
“This development ensures that the panels perform exceptionally well in Australia’s demanding conditions,” the company stated.

Tindo’s Walara 425 W bifacial solar panel, designed with n-type cells and tempered double ARC glass, boosts efficiency and durability in Australia’s challenging conditions.
The panel measures 1,722 mm by 1,133 mm by 35 mm, weighs 22 kg, and operates between -40°C and 85°C. It has an open-circuit voltage of 38.91 V and a short-circuit current of 14 A. The design includes an IP68-rated junction box and a 35 mm black anodized aluminium alloy frame, which Tindo says reduces micro-cracks and ensures long-term durability.
Warranty, Series Details, and Strategic Outlook
The panel is backed by a 25-year product warranty and a 25-year power output guarantee that ensures it maintains 87.4% of its original yield.
The 425 W G3P is one of four modules in Tindo’s Walara series, though details for the other models have not yet been disclosed. The series will offer various cell configurations and come in white-back, black-back, and bifacial options to suit different installation needs.
“We wanted to create a unique competitive advantage for local suppliers and installers, offering value-based options for customers seeking to use solar energy to enhance their energy security,” he said.
“Our priority remains driving innovation through domestic manufacturing, and in doing so, providing Australian consumers with locally made technology designed to thrive in local weather conditions.”
Petterson added that the new plant will be strategically positioned to foster a competitive domestic solar manufacturing industry and expand the broader supply chain.
“Our solar panel gigafactory can be the first step, offering the scale and volume that provides the demand-pull-through to attract local investment further back up the chain,” he said.
