EGE Haina has inaugurated the Dominican Republic’s first large-scale hybrid renewable power plant, according to company statements. The facility combines wind and solar generation with a total installed capacity of approximately 199.5 MW, contributing to a wider trend of renewable expansion in the Dominican Republic.
Hybrid Wind Solar Plant Components and Output
The hybrid plant consists of three parks. The project includes the newly inaugurated 60 MW Esperanza Solar 2 and the 49.5 MW Esperanza Eólico wind farm. These new assets join the existing 90 MW Esperanza Solar 1 park.
The combined complex is expected to generate around 485,000 MWh of electricity each year. Its solar component utilizes 259,370 bifacial solar panels spread across 246 hectares. The wind component consists of 11 Vestas wind turbines. The project supports the country’s broader energy goals, which include targets for Dominican Republic energy storage capacity.
