Saudi Arabia Renewable Energy Expansion Initiatives
Saudi Arabia is expanding its renewable energy capacity to 130 gigawatts (GW) by 2026 as part of its energy transition outlined in Vision 2030. The plan aims to source at least 50% of the kingdom’s electricity from renewable sources.

Of the 130 GW target, approximately 58.7 GW is expected to derive from solar power, while 40 GW will come from wind energy. By 2025, Saudi Arabia had connected 12.3 GW of renewable projects to the grid, primarily solar, which more than doubled the additions from the previous year.
Major Projects in Saudi Arabia Renewable Energy Goals
Notable projects driving this expansion include the 2.6 GW Al-Shuaibah solar plant and the Dumat al-Jandal wind farm. According to reports, Saudi Arabia had reached around 64 GW of total renewable project capacity as of 2026.
