No Extension on ALMM List-II Deadline
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has ruled out a blanket extension of the ALMM List-II deadline beyond June 1, 2026. Projects commissioned after that date will have to comply with ALMM List-II requirements for solar PV cells, while the ministry is considering only case-by-case relief to protect investments already made or projects delayed by factors beyond developers’ control.
The official PIB release states there will be “No Blanket Extension” beyond June 1, 2026, and explicitly frames any relief as case-to-case rather than a general postponement. Industry reporting indicates that the government does not plan a broad deferment but may consider limited relief for projects facing genuine delays such as transmission-network issues.
Under the existing framework, projects commissioned before June 1, 2026, are exempt from the List-II requirement, while projects commissioned after that cutoff must use solar PV cells from approved List-II manufacturers.
