Catalyze Launches 4.8MW Community Solar in Frankfort, NY

A 4.8 MW community solar project is now operational in Frankfort, New York, marking a significant milestone for renewable energy developer Catalyze and its partner, Human Technologies. The new facility, built on a designated brownfield site owned by Human Technologies, will supply clean power to a mix of residential and commercial subscribers, with a dedicated focus on serving low- and middle-income households.

The project strategically utilizes New York’s Inclusive Community Solar Adder (ICSA) program, an initiative designed to expand access to affordable clean energy. This approach not only helps lower electricity costs for local residents but also contributes directly to New York’s ambitious climate targets, which include installing six gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar by 2025 and ten GW by 2030.

The collaboration highlights a shared commitment to community and environmental revitalization by transforming previously disturbed land into a productive asset. Tim Giarrusso, President/CEO of Human Technologies, noted the project’s dual impact. “Partnering with Catalyze on this solar project allows us to contribute to both environmental sustainability and local economic growth by transforming a former brownfield into a clean, renewable energy source for our region,” he said, connecting the initiative to his organization’s core mission of creating employment for people with disabilities.

This Frankfort installation is the sixth community solar project for Catalyze in New York, adding to a growing 79 MW portfolio backed by $100 million in funding from the New York Green Bank. “We have had great success in New York, both deploying renewable energy to help meet climate goals and supporting community development with new clean energy projects,” said Jared Haines, CEO of Catalyze. He emphasized the value of the partnership, stating, “Human Technologies has deep expertise in the Frankfort area, and it was a pleasure working with them to connect with local stakeholders and better understand the area.”

As an integrated Independent Power Producer (IPP), Catalyze develops a range of distributed energy solutions, including community solar, rooftop solar, and battery storage. The company utilizes proprietary technologies such as its REenergyze software platform to streamline development and its SolarStrap mounting system for rooftop panel installations, enabling it to deliver customized systems for its partners.
