Germany solar storage: Impressive LONGi Expansion in ’24 for C&I Market

LONGi will formalize its expansion with a dedicated launch event on May 21, 2026, in Frankfurt am Main, marking its official entry into the German commercial and industrial (C&I) storage market. This move is underpinned by the recent acquisition of PotisEdge Co., Ltd., a strategic step enabling LONGi to deliver fully integrated solar-plus-storage solutions. This acquisition is central to the company’s rollout not only in Germany but also in key European markets like the UK, Italy, and Spain.

LONGi’s Proven Capabilities and Technical Leadership

This German expansion is not just a plan, but a progression of demonstrated successes. In a significant milestone, LONGi recently completed and grid-connected a fully integrated 13.75 MW/50.16 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Italy on April 29, 2026. This project, co-located with a 35 MWp photovoltaic plant, showcases the company’s capability to deliver the kind of scalable, integrated systems it now brings to Germany. This technical prowess is further highlighted by its 2024 R&D achievements, such as reaching a 27.30% efficiency for its HBC cells, underscoring its commitment to high-performance technology.

A Holistic Approach to a Modern Grid

LONGi’s strategy addresses the core challenges of an energy grid with high renewable penetration: stability, reliability, and intelligent control. The company is not merely selling components but is offering a holistic system that combines high-efficiency PV generation with advanced battery storage.
