IHI Power Services to Manage Doral’s Solar Projects in Indiana and Ohio

IHI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has secured a significant asset management contract from Doral Renewables to oversee two of the developer’s key Midwest solar farms. The agreement covers the 400-megawatt Mammoth North Solar Project in Starke County, Indiana, and the 48-megawatt Great Bend Solar Project in Meigs County, Ohio, marking a notable expansion of IPSC’s renewable energy portfolio.

Mammoth North serves as the first phase of the colossal 1.3-gigawatt Mammoth Solar complex, a $1.5 billion investment poised to become one of the nation’s largest solar energy developments. Scheduled to begin commercial operation in the third quarter of 2024, the full Mammoth project—which also includes the future Mammoth South and Mammoth Central I & II phases—is projected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 275,000 homes annually.

Meanwhile, the Great Bend Solar Project in Ohio is set to deliver substantial economic benefits to its local community. Expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025, the 48 MW facility will create new jobs, stimulate area businesses, and contribute an estimated $400,000 in additional tax revenues to Meigs County each year.

Reflecting on the new partnership, IPSC CEO John Keller stated, “Doral Renewables’ confidence in IPSC to support its Mammoth North and Great Bend solar projects highlights our proven expertise in delivering top-tier asset management. This service, which we’ve focused on prioritizing and expanding in recent years, aligns perfectly with Doral’s vision of creating sustainable communities.” Keller added, “We are excited to contribute to the success of one of the largest solar projects in the U.S., further emphasizing our dedication to excellence in the clean energy sector.”

The collaboration pairs two industry leaders. Doral Renewables, based in Philadelphia, is a prominent developer and operator with a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 13 GW across 18 states. IPSC is the largest U.S. subsidiary of IHI Corporation, a global heavy industry firm founded in 1853, and provides comprehensive operations, maintenance, and management services to the American power generation sector.
