Impressive AIKO Skyworth BC Plant Advances 5 GW Project

Joint Venture Showcases Impressive AIKO Skyworth BC Plant Advances 5 GW Project

A significant joint venture between AIKO and Skyworth, operating as Ruijing Energy (Beihai) Co., Ltd., is marking a major milestone in China’s renewable energy sector. The partnership is advancing its 5 GW high-efficiency back-contact (BC) module research, development, and manufacturing base in Beihai, Guangxi Province. With a total investment of RMB 2 billion, this project is strategically positioned to meet the escalating global demand for premium solar technology, building on previous agreements for ABC module procurement between the two companies.

Construction on the ambitious facility has progressed swiftly. As of early 2026, the main building structures are complete, and the project is now entering a critical phase: the installation and commissioning of advanced solar panel manufacturing machines. This progress, confirmed by a recent environmental impact assessment, signals that production is imminent. The plant will feature two parallel production lines, each with a 2.5 GW annual capacity, underscoring the scale of this pivotal investment, which undoubtedly required a meticulous solar panel plant cost analysis.

Pushing the Boundaries of BC Module Technology

The Beihai plant will specialize in producing highly advanced 78-cell dual-glass modules, measuring 2,465 × 1,303 mm and rated at an impressive 770 W. This is made possible by leveraging AIKO’s proprietary All Back Contact (ABC) technology. This design innovatively moves all electrical contacts to the rear of the cell, which maximizes the front surface area for sunlight absorption. The result is not only a significant boost in efficiency but also a sleek, uniform appearance favored in modern solar installations. Mastering this advanced technology is a core part of the modern solar panel production lifecycle, from sourcing high-purity photovoltaic raw materials to final assembly.

This 5 GW capacity positions AIKO-Skyworth as a formidable force in the global market. To put the scale in perspective, this single facility’s annual output could power well over half a million homes, making a substantial contribution to the world’s renewable energy supply. The project reflects a broader industry trend where major players are scaling up to meet demand predicted by the latest analysis of the global solar market. This mirrors similar massive investments worldwide, such as the recent launch of a new 5 GW solar factory in Texas.

Strategic Expansion and Market Leadership

The Beihai facility is a cornerstone of AIKO’s wider strategic vision. The company is also planning an even larger 10 GW BC module project in Zhuhai, signaling its intent to dominate the high-efficiency solar sector. By expanding its production capabilities for these cutting-edge modules, AIKO is strengthening its competitive edge and solidifying its role as an innovator in the fundamentals of solar panel production.

As the Beihai plant gears up for operation, it is set to become a major international hub for next-generation BC module manufacturing. This will not only accelerate AIKO’s business growth but also play a crucial role in the global transition toward sustainable energy sources.
