WindForce Advances the Sri Lanka solar project Goals with 100 MW Rividhanavi Project
In a significant development for Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector, WindForce PLC, a premier clean energy developer, has officially secured the land lease for its ambitious 100 MW Rividhanavi solar power project. This move solidifies the project’s foundation and marks a critical step forward in the nation’s push towards sustainable energy, reflecting the kind of remarkable growth essential by 2025.
The agreement, signed with the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA), paves the way for the construction of one of the country’s major solar installations.
Project Details and Location of the Sri Lanka solar project
The project will be situated in Kotiyagala, Siyambalanduwa, within the Monaragala District. This region is increasingly becoming a focal point for large-scale renewable energy, as evidenced by another recent 100 MW power plant launch in the same area.
Under the terms of the agreement, WindForce PLC has secured a 24-year lease. The total rental value for the full lease term is LKR 50 million, a strategic investment that underscores the company’s long-term commitment to the project and the nation’s energy future.
Key Milestones and Future Outlook for the Sri Lanka solar project
With the execution of the land lease on October 10, 2025, WindForce has successfully concluded all major project-related contracts. This includes the vital Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the Implementation Agreement, and the Transmission Development Contract. The finalization of these agreements is a crucial milestone, signaling that the project is now poised to move from planning to execution.
The development of a utility-scale solar farm involves a highly complex supply chain, starting with the basics of solar panel manufacturing and the sourcing of high-quality solar panel raw materials. This project is a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s broader clean energy transition, contributing significantly to grid stability and reducing carbon emissions.
The successful launch of this 100 MW initiative will not only provide clean power but also serve as a model for future renewable energy ventures in the region. As the project progresses, understanding the complete solar panel manufacturing process becomes essential to appreciating the scale of this achievement.
