600 MW Iran Renewable Energy Projects Launched
Iran has launched 600 megawatts (MW) of renewable power capacity in 107 projects across all 31 provinces, according to Iranian officials. The announcement was made on August 25 by Hamidreza Azimi, deputy head of Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), during the inauguration of a 95-MW solar plant in Tehran Province.

Following this launch, Iran’s total renewable capacity stands at approximately 5,800 MW. Solar energy capacity has seen a significant rise from 700 MW to 5,300 MW over the past two years.

The government plans to increase renewable capacity to 12,000 MW by the peak load period of the next year, with solar power expected to make up the majority of this expansion.
