New Kazakhstan Renewable Energy Projects
Kazakhstan has announced 570 MW of new renewable energy projects, comprising both solar and wind developments across several regions. The plans include a 100-MW solar plant in the Almaty Region and three additional solar projects in the Kyzylorda Region, totaling 70 MW.
Wind energy initiatives consist of two 100-MW facilities in the Aktobe Region, a 50-MW wind plant in the Kyzylorda Region, another 50-MW project in the Turkistan Region, and two wind installations in the Abai Region with a combined capacity of 100 MW.
According to Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry, the added capacity is intended to meet domestic electricity demand fully by the first quarter of 2027, with an anticipated surplus by the end of that year.
Kazakhstan Renewable Energy Project Distribution and Capacity
The planned 570 MW capacity will be deployed as follows:
- Solar: 100 MW in Almaty and 70 MW in Kyzylorda.
- Wind: 300 MW across the Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Turkistan, and Abai regions.
This diversified approach aims to enhance energy security and address power shortages that Kazakhstan has previously faced.
Kazakhstan Renewable Energy Strategy
This initiative aligns with Kazakhstan’s broader energy strategic goals to increase the share of renewables in the national energy mix. The government continues to emphasize expanding renewable generation alongside traditional energy sources to provide a reliable power supply.
Kazakhstan Renewable Energy Market Context
As Kazakhstan implements these projects, it reflects a growing trend across the region to enhance renewable energy capacity. Neighboring countries like Kyrgyzstan and Iran are also ramping up their renewable efforts, with projects in the pipeline further contributing to regional energy stability.
