New PPA Sealed for 27 MW Twitch Hill Solar Park

A significant 15-year corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) has been finalized by Lynher Energy for its 27 MW Twitch Hill Solar Park, located in Shropshire, England. The entire output of the facility will be supplied to an unnamed UK-based FTSE 100 company for the duration of the contract, providing the off-taker with budget certainty and protection from market price volatility.

The agreement is structured as a sleeved physical PPA, meaning an intermediary energy supplier will manage the transfer of electricity between the solar park and the corporate buyer. This arrangement underpins the financial security needed for the project, which is already under construction and slated for completion by September 2024. Ethical Power is managing the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and will oversee future operations and maintenance for the site.

Integrating Green Energy with Ecological Enhancements

The Twitch Hill Solar Park is being developed on a 36-hectare site of unused grade 3b agricultural land. Beyond generating clean solar power, the project has a strong focus on biodiversity. Environmental improvements include the planting of nearly 3.5 kilometers of new hedgerows, the introduction of wildflowers, and strategic tree planting. The land will also continue to be used for sheep grazing, demonstrating a dual-use approach to land management.

Once operational, the solar farm is projected to displace 8,150 tonnes of CO2 emissions from power generation annually, making a tangible contribution to climate goals.

A Foundation for Future Growth

Chris Sparrow, a Director at Lynher Energy, emphasized the strategic importance of the deal. “This CPPA is another step towards realising our aim in the renewable energy sector,” he stated. “The arrangement provides a solid framework for Lynher Energy to continue expanding its capacity in the near future. Working with a creditworthy FTSE100 company confirms our ability to make meaningful contributions to the fight against climate change while also adding value for our stakeholders.”

Sparrow added that the agreement provides strong confidence in the long-term cash flows from this investment, securing the project’s viability for years to come.
