A New Era for American-Made Residential Energy
In a significant stride for the domestic clean energy sector, Qcells has unveiled a comprehensive residential solar-plus-storage solution forged from a unique interstate manufacturing partnership. Dubbed the “Georgia-Michigan Power” strategy, this initiative pairs solar panels produced in Georgia with energy storage systems manufactured in Michigan, creating a fully American-sourced ecosystem for homeowners. This integrated approach not only strengthens the U.S. supply chain but also positions consumers to take full advantage of federal incentives for domestic clean energy.
The Interstate Production Synergy
The foundation of this new system rests on two state-level manufacturing powerhouses. In Georgia, Qcells has invested nearly $3 billion to construct a complete solar supply chain, from ingots and wafers to cells and finished modules. High-performance panels like the Q.PEAK DUO AC and Q.TRON AC are assembled at the company’s state-of-the-art Cartersville factory, forming the energy generation core of the package.
Complementing this solar production, the energy storage component is manufactured in Michigan. The Q.HOME CORE G3, a third-generation residential LFP battery, is produced at Jabil’s facility in Auburn Hills. This move is part of a broader $17 million investment by Qcells in the state, which also funds the production of the microinverters integrated into the Georgia-made solar modules.
Unlocking Domestic Value and Incentives
By creating a truly domestic solar-plus-storage ecosystem, Qcells offers tangible benefits to American consumers and the national economy. A key advantage is the system’s eligibility for domestic content bonuses available through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This makes the transition to renewable energy more financially accessible for homeowners across the country.

Il Hyeong No, Head of Qcells North America Residential Business, emphasized the direct value for consumers. “Pairing our solar panels from Georgia with our battery systems from Michigan can help unlock significant value for homeowners,” he stated, noting that certain configurations can result in substantial savings on utility bills. The initiative also fuels economic growth by supporting U.S. manufacturing jobs and bolstering industrial capacity, with the Jabil partnership alone accounting for $11.6 million in new investments.
This strategic Georgia-Michigan connection establishes a new industry benchmark, offering a powerful, integrated, and American-made solution for residential energy independence. For more details, see the official Qcells announcement and reporting from publications like Solar Power World.
