UAE solar plant inaugurated with 50MW capacity in Central Africa

UAE’s GSU launches UAE solar plant in CAR

Abu Dhabi-based Global South Utilities (GSU) has inaugurated a 50-megawatt solar plant in the Central African Republic, marking the largest infrastructure project in the country’s history. The facility is located in Sakaï and is equipped with a 15-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS), aimed at enhancing grid stability and reliability.

According to reports, the project is expected to increase the national electricity generation capacity by more than 60%, provide power to over 300,000 households, and lead to a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by over 50,000 tonnes annually.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by President Faustin-Archange Touadéra. The project received financial backing through concessional financing from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
