Impressive Romanian wind turbines: GE Vernova’s 42 Unit Deal

GE Vernovaโ€™s onshore wind business has secured a major turbine supply agreement with Greenvolt International Power for the Ialomiศ›a wind farm project in Romania.

GE Vernova to Deliver 42 Romanian wind turbines for Ialomiศ›a Project

GE Vernova will supply, install, and commission 42 units of its 6.1 MWโ€“158m onshore wind turbines for the project, which will have a total installed capacity of approximately 252 MW. The agreement also includes a full-service contract for the turbines’ maintenance and operation. The Ialomiศ›a wind farm is located in the county of the same name, east of Bucharest.

Deliveries of the turbines are scheduled to begin in 2026. Once operational, the project is expected to become one of the largest wind farms in the country, generating enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of more than 110,000 homes and businesses annually. This will play a crucial role in advancing Romania’s energy transition.

GE Vernova’s Wind Turbines to Boost Romania’s Renewable Energy with Romanian wind turbines

The Ialomiศ›a project is a significant step towards Romania’s goal of having 11.2 GW of renewable energy installed by 2030. This wind farm will substantially boost the country’s existing wind capacity and support its transition to a more sustainable energy system, reducing its reliance on fossil fuels.

The solar Industry is Booming

WE HELP NEWCOMERS to the solar industry start their own solar module production line. Customers can make BIG PROFITS by selling modules and finding investors, without wasting money and time on things they don't need!

This large-scale wind development complements a parallel boom in the nation’s solar sector, reflecting a comprehensive strategy for decarbonization. The country is seeing impressive growth to 2025 unveiled, with support from government initiatives like the Modernisation Fund, which recently saw EUR 17.1M granted for PV panels installation. This momentum is also visible in the commercial sector, where deals such as when E.ON Energie seals PPA with Webasto for a โ‚ฌ1M solar project are becoming more common. Building a robust green energy industry requires mastering complex supply chains, from understanding the solar panel manufacturing process to turbine installation logistics. A solid grasp of the basics of solar panel manufacturing, including knowledge of solar panel raw materials and the specialized solar panel manufacturing machines, is vital for stakeholders investing in the region’s clean energy future.

GE Vernova’s 6.1 MW Turbines to Boost Wind Power Capacity in Romania with Romanian wind turbines

GE Vernova’s 6.1 MWโ€“158m turbines are part of the company’s “workhorse” strategy, which focuses on high-powered, standardized turbines to optimize performance and logistics. These turbines are specifically designed to maximize energy production at low- and medium-wind speeds, making them well-suited for the conditions in the Ialomiศ›a region.

A key feature of these turbines is a two-piece blade design, which simplifies transport and installation. This innovative design is particularly beneficial for projects in challenging locations where logistics can be complex. This project further solidifies GE Vernova’s significant global footprint, which includes an installed base of approximately 57,000 turbines with a capacity of nearly 120 GW worldwide. The partnership with Greenvolt International Power, part of Portugalโ€™s Greenvolt Group, highlights a shared vision for advancing Europe’s renewable energy transition through scalable and efficient onshore wind solutions.
