Renewable Energy Philippines Transition Plan Details
Maynilad Water Services, Inc., the West Zone concessionaire in the Philippines, has finalized its Renewable Energy Transition Plan, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity consumption to 35% by 2037 as part of its overall Climate Neutrality Plan.
Beginning next year, Maynilad plans to enhance the renewable energy component of its power supply through MPower by raising it from 10% to 20%. This initial phase is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 8,500 metric tons annually.
The roadmap includes a multifaceted approach, combining renewable electricity procurement, on-site solar generation, and energy efficiency measures. Additionally, Maynilad intends to install rooftop solar systems at 20 facilities across its operations, which comprise treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, wastewater treatment facilities, and sewage pumping stations.
The Renewable Energy Transition Plan was developed based on a comprehensive assessment of the company’s energy usage and carbon emissions, supplemented by feasibility studies of potential renewable energy solutions.
