Iberdrola, through its U.S. subsidiary Avangrid, has connected the Tower Solar plant to the grid in Morrow County, Oregon. The project is a 166 MWdc / 120 MWac solar facility featuring more than 250,000 panels, with expectations to begin commercial operation this summer.
The electricity generated will flow into the Portland General Electric (PGE) grid and is designed to support large municipal, commercial, and industrial customers through PGE’s Green Future Impact program. Avangrid indicated that the project also aims to bolster operations of QTS in the region.
Tower Solar is located west of Boardman, Oregon, on approximately 900 acres of land owned by the Port of Morrow.
